How They're Made – Then and Now
Traditional espadrilles are built around natural jute—a tough, plant-based fibre twisted into long ropes, coiled into shape, and stitched into soles. The uppers were usually canvas or cotton, stitched by hand or machine depending on the region. Some makers still follow this exact process today.
