Our raw virgin coconut oil is cold-pressed from the flesh of organic coconuts for a decadent taste. Lending an exotic flavour to stir-fries, curries or scrambled eggs, our coconut oil also makes an enticing alternative to butter on rye bread, and adds a silky feel to your favourite smoothies. Use it outside the kitchen too: our fragrant oil isn’t refined, bleached or deodorised, so it’s ideal for a natural beauty regime. Moisturise skin and condition hair, or use it for oil pulling to enjoy the dental benefits and a detoxifying effect. No BPA used in lid.
About the brand
We live, love and breathe organic
Built on an unwavering commitment to 100% organic, ethically and sustainably sourced food, Biona began life on a kitchen table in London over 35 years ago.
Noel and Donata started experimenting with simple home-made granola, which they packed and sold in their pioneering organic shop, Windmill Wholefoods. It was so popular, they quickly outgrew their kitchen table and so Biona was born.
Today, the Biona family are proud to bring more than 350 organic products to lovers of good food in 30 countries across the world. Which is why, every time you choose Biona, you choose a healthier future.
A vision of a better future through good food
Noel found his path to organic food, first through living off the land in a commune off the West Coast of Ireland (then owned by John Lennon), then later at Hill Farm, learning self-sufficieny and vegetable growing and selling.
He moved to London in 1976 and raised enough funds to open a pioneering shop in 1978 - Windmill Wholefoods on the Fulham Road, which he quickly expanded to found one of London’s first ever vegetarian restaurants two years later.
When Noel met Donata, a reflexologist and passionate believer in healthy food and lifestyle, a new and exciting partnership began.
From the early days of sourcing inspiring products for the shop and restaurant and making granola at the Windmill kitchen table, to the global family of organic food brands they still run today, (with the help of their Children, Amy and Elisa), some 35 years later, they have remained true to their vision of a better future through good food.
From our own Biona production factory and our soon-to-be brand-new-offices and experimental demo kitchen (using sustainable energy) to our long-term partnerships with other trail blazing organic companies around the world, we strive to continually evolve to bring you better food and more choice, whilst never straying from our uncompromising mission of a healthier future for all.
We believe in 100% traceability for each and every product
Healthy food has its roots in healthy soil. Which is why at Biona Organic, we continually reinvest in the organic farming industry.
Whatever the crop, our farmers never, ever use chemical pesticides and herbicides or grow genetically modified crops. And because we believe in 100% traceability for each and every product, we know all our ingredients are of the highest standard, completely natural and suitable for vegetarians (and often vegans too).
Every single product we offer, has its own story. And because of our relentless attention to detail, every step of the production process is carefully managed to ensure nothing but love and mother nature go into Biona Organic foods.
We hope our story is really the story of the change you can make in the world when you follow your instincts. We want to thank you for following your instincts here.
