Dress

A shift dress cut with a slight A-line, so the fabric falls away from the shoulder and skims the body rather than following it. It's a classic choice for a capsule collection: one piece that carries a whole outfit and takes whatever you put with it. The knit is mid-weight with a smooth face and good recovery, which is what holds the line through the day rather than seating at the elbows and hem.

It's knitted in Italy by Brugnoli in B.recycled, a fabric built around Q-Nova® recycled polyamide (RPA), itself made with 99% recycled materials. Brugnoli's figures put the saving at around 23,000 litres of water and 1,200kg of CO2 for every 1,000 metres of fabric compared with standard polyamide.

The sleeves are three-quarter length and unstructured, with no shoulder pads, so the seam sits where your shoulder actually does. The neckline is a plain round crew with a single button at the back. Two pockets are set invisibly into the side seams, and the hem lands at the knee or just below depending on your height.

Wear it on its own with heels and bare legs, or with tall boots and a long coat when it turns. A fine knit layered over the top turns it into a skirt, with the sleeves showing at the cuff. It's a dress that takes whatever you put with it, so the shoes and the outerwear do most of the deciding.
