Recycled Espadrille Loafers

The loafer cut is what separates these from the rest. A seam curves across the toe like an apron, giving the front of the shoe a defined, tailored shape where a classic espadrille is a plain slipper — and the vamp rises a little higher over the foot, so it holds like a loafer holds. At the back, a small grosgrain tab in navy and red is the only colour on the whole shoe, and it's the detail that makes them: a nautical flash, deliberately placed, entirely unnecessary and much better for being there.

The rope is more substantial here too. A wedge of coiled and braided natural jute forms the sole and runs deep around the edge, stitched to the canvas upper in the traditional Spanish method, with a thin TR outsole bonded underneath for grip on pavement. That taller rope wall lifts the shoe slightly and gives it more presence from the side. There's no shank; the build stays soft and moves with the foot.

The canvas is soft and closely woven, made from 100% recycled polyester spun from recycled plastic bottles. In black it's the sharper option — dark canvas against pale rope, with that ribbon at the heel doing the talking. In natural it goes quieter and warmer, upper and sole almost the same tone, so the shoe reads as one continuous piece. Inside, a built-in cushioned footbed topped with soft vegan leather (100% PU) sits between your foot and the jute. Unlined, so the canvas sits directly against the skin.

They take a slightly smarter outfit than the plain espadrille will: a white linen dress, wide cream trousers with a shirt, a midi and a tote, cropped denim and a striped tee. Bare feet in summer, a fine sock when it cools. Good shoes for old streets and long lunches.
